The 2015 Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity showcased the best of the best offerings in the advertising space globally.

The team at Born Licensing kept a special eye out for those campaigns that leveraged TV or movies, and there were plenty of them. 14 Lions went to campaigns that in one way or another used TV shows and movies, and a further 13 were shortlisted. A range of techniques were used including usage of existing footage and stills, character likeness and thematic elements. Agencies featured familiar characters such as Pingu, Spongebob, Hello Kitty, Shrek and Dora Explorer in their work. Popular movie references included Wizard of Oz, Avatar, The Hobbit, Life of Pi and Ghostbusters. TV was also leveraged, with shows such as Modern Family, Breaking Bad and Brady Bunch.
