It can be quite a challenge to secure someones attention with a billboard. We’re all busy, distracted and connected to our phones, and often just go about our day not looking up very often. The 5 outdoor campaigns presented here have leveraged well known and loved characters to grab our attention!
World Cup Fever
Characters from The Simpsons, Madagascar, Shrek and Star Wars
This campaign was the largest global activation for VISA in history, landing in 104 markets and achieving over 100 million consumers actions (i.e likes, shares, tweets etc.) A combined aggregation of more than 1.7 billion impressions proved the campaign as a huge success!

It was impossible to avoid this campaign. In addition to the outdoor advertising shown here, there was also a range of fun TV commercials featuring Yoda. Here we see the extent of the outdoor billboards and one advertisement in London’s underground tube.

This billboard in Australia was launched very cleverly with a double meaning. The hit TV show Dallas was returning to television screens after a break of over 20 years. At the same time, airline Qantas offered a new route direct to Dallas.

Generations have grown up accepting the challenge to find Wally in the Wheres Wally range of books. Wally went on to have his own TV show, where again it was quite challenging to find him and difficulty level was harder because there was a time limit! Here we see Paypal leverage this iconic brand to demonstrate the ease of their service.

International money transfer business World First created their very own Mr. Men character – Mr. First! We see the new character featured on all billboards and sharing space with some of our favourite Mr. Men characters such as Mr. Wrong, Mr. Silly and Mr. Grumpy.
