FORD LICENSE CLIP FROM ‘BRANNIGAN’ FOR THEIR ‘THE LEGEND IS BACK’ SOCIAL CAMPAIGN

Born Licensing managed the licensing process of a clip from ‘Brannigan’ for new Ford Capri campaign

For the relaunch of their iconic Ford model Capri, the automobile manufacturer and their creative agency Wieden+Kennedy London wanted to create something truly memorable. The overarching idea was to find moments from different kinds of media that celebrated Ford Capri throughout the years. One of these was a clip from the 1975 movie “Brannigan”, featuring a famous scene where one of the characters jumps over Tower Bridge on a Ford Capri.

In order to assist with the licensing of the clip, Born Licensing managed the entire licensing process from start to finish, ensuring that all the deadlines were promptly met.

The social campaign marking the return of the classic Ford Capri model in an all-electric version launched in July across key European markets (including UK, Germany, France, Spain and Italy). The 60” hero spot shows fast-cut archive footage of the Capri, including the iconic clip from the movie ‘Brannigan’.

Clip licensing is an effective way to connect with audiences

Licensing a clip can be one of the simplest and yet most effective ways of leveraging the popularity of a well-known film or TV show. When audiences spot a clip they recognise, the ad becomes instantly more attention grabbing, especially if audiences have an emotional link to the film or TV show.
